It’s a thirsty Thursday and that means it’s almost the weekend and it’s also the day we celebrate our hustlers.
Another element we’ve added to the show is our comedy-centric Thursdays where we have comedians come and kick it with us as we gear up for a fun-filled weekend.
Today we have comedian and hustler Donovan Goliath in the house, who’s been dubbed the cuter one of the Goliath brothers.
In addition to being cute and an absolutely amazing comedian, he’s also known for being one of the celebrity dancers on the seventh season of the SABC3 reality competition Strictly Come Dancing, in 2014.
He pursued comedy after performing at the Comedy Underground in Melville in September 2010 and left an advertising job to fully pursue his passion as a funnyman.
He’s featured at many comedy festivals such as Blacks Only, Soweto Comedy Festival, 99% Xhosa Comedy (East London), Zulu Comedy Corner (Durban), Jou Ma Se Comedy (Cape Town), MzansiFela Festival, AWEdnesday Comedy Jam and Tshwane Comedy Nights.
He’s also a founder of GOLIATH AND GOLIATH.
He grew up in Umtata, a light0skinned coloured boy who impressively speaks fluent Xhosa – it’s such a trip when you hear this for the first time, by the way lol.
“I’m not related to Jason and Nicholas, I’m just a Goliath from Umtata and now and then when we’re lazy we just tell people that we’re brothers,” he says in his element as comedian.
“I was in a rap group called Outbreak at Umtata and I won a backpack once for dropping a freestyle and a 24 pack of pencil crayons,” lol he says before he drops a verse on the show for all our listeners – he’s actually got a dope flow so if the comedy gig doesn’t work out, he’s already got a fall-back plan – smart.
The Arch is broadcasting from our Vuma FM studios so his presence was missed today but Donovan definitely held it down and gave us our dose energy, craziness and fun.
If you missed it, be sure to check out our YouTube channel. Do best and tune in tomorrow again at 6am all the way through until 9 o’clock to catch all the happenings of the best breakfast on the continent.
