It’s max Friday on the Dj Sbu Breakfast, and by now you know what that means – We let loose. We talk less and play more. The music is always top of the charts on Fridays, and this week is no different. This one is even sweeter because it’s month-end so we get a lot of people in that party mood early in the day. The guest line-up is quite exciting, with Mariechan and Mobi Dixon coming through a bit later.
Before we get there though, we talk “What Now”, and The Sowetan newspaper headlines are leading with the headline ”Zuma Is Worse Than Downgrade”. This is of course piling more pressure on the president with calls for him to resign having resurfaced lately. On the Twitter trends, #FillUpTheDomeDVD has been trending since last night. The launch was last night at the MTN headquarters. So, those of us who couldn’t go to the Dome when Cassper Nyovest did his thing last year can finally see what went down there.
The oh-so-gorgeous Mariechan Luiters finally joined us in the second hour of the show. Remember the pop group JAMALI that rose to fame in 2003?
Yep, she’s a former member of that group and she’s been doing so well since deciding to go solo. She’s been featured in so many famous songs, and has been working a lot with Dj Ganyani. The good news is that she’s releasing an album soon so all her fans, including me (the newly converted one) will get to hear her beautiful voice more (by the way she also gave me a smooch).
In the last hour of the show we had Dj Mobi Dixon join us in studio. He has just dropped his new album at midnight and because this show is of legendary status, we were the first ones to interview him fresh after the release. Such hot music on the album, and it will definitely be ‘crying’ at every party this coming festive season. On a more serious note, he shared with us his experience of alcohol and drug abuse. How he came from East London in the Eastern Cape to try and make it in Joburg, but ended up with the wrong company and fell into the trap and nearly lost his life. The good news is that he realised that he was on the wrong path and embarked on a journey to redemption. We’re glad that happened because he’s one of the most talented blokes around.
Another exciting thing we did today was to give away R5000 to one lucky listener who participated in a survey conducted by the two stations on what they think of the Dj Sbu Breakfast. So, this person will clearly not be feeling the debit orders this month.
That’s our Friday the, hope you enjoyed the show from Monday. I know we did. Ciao!
